How to read Foldline · data & privacy
The ribbons show accumulated climb and descent per kilometre, not local slope or absolute altitude. Net change can cancel a hill. Vertical travel hidden by net change = 2 × min(climb, descent).
Whole-run hidden relief is computed from whole-run climb and descent, not the sum of window hidden relief. Opposite changes in different windows can cancel at whole-run scale. Changing window size changes cancellation inside windows.
Smoothed GPS elevation: fixed 5 m spatial grid, centered triangular smoothing across 20 m. Missing elevations carry forward; leading gaps use the first recorded value. Duplicate distances use the last value. Edge samples clamp. This can soften short hills; it is not surveyed terrain. No second smoother or elevation service is used.
Your GPX is processed locally, not uploaded. External OpenStreetMap tile requests reveal the map area to the tile provider. Version links open separate apps and do not transfer your imported track.
